Marcelo grew up and attended film school in Córdoba, Argentina. After producing and directing commercials and music videos, he moved to the U.S. to study at UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television, where he received his Master's degree in screenwriting. His work as a director, writer, and producer has appeared at over a hundred film festivals worldwide and has won or been nominated for many festival and industry awards. This includes the Oscar-nominated documentary CHAU, BEYOND THE LINES (co-writer and executive producer) and the short film IN THE CLOUDS (writer, director, producer), winner of thirty international awards.
His screenwriting work, both in English and Spanish, has been recognized with a British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA/ LA) Fellowship and a Sloan Film Award, among others, and includes the screenplay for "Pretending”—a remake of a South American film of the same name—and the script for the European/Canadian project “Dreamland.” Marcelo is currently preparing what will be his feature film debut as a director, while also working both as producer and writer of a number of remake projects of South American films, including the English- language remake of Berlin Film Festival winner “Gigante.”
