Marcelo grew up and attended film school in Córdoba, Argentina. After producing and directing commercials and music videos, he moved to the U.S. to study at UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television, where he received his Master's degree in screenwriting. His work as a director, writer, and producer has appeared at over 160 film festivals worldwide and has won or been nominated for many festival and industry awards. This includes the Oscar-nominated documentary CHAU, BEYOND THE LINES (co-writer and executive producer) and the short film IN THE CLOUDS (writer, director, producer), winner of thirty international awards.
His screenwriting work, both in English and Spanish, has been recognized with a British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA / LA) Fellowship and a Sloan Film Award, among others. Marcelo recently finished the script of ALL-INCLUSIVE, which will be his feature film debut as a director, for Academy-Award winning producer Mark Johnson (RAIN MAN, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, BREAKING BAD), producer Alex Zito (Cannes-winner LAS ACACIAS), and producer Pola Zito (Academy Award-nominee WILD TALES). Some of Marcelo’s past projects include PRETENDING—a remake of a South American film of the same name—and the script for the European/Canadian project DREAMLAND. Marcelo’s current projects also include the documentary LUCY (in post-production), and RANDOM, a TV series for the Latin American market (in development).
